A friend and I recently visited here for a sweet treat. I should truly reserve judgement until trying the croissants and other pastries, but we stuck to the patisserie side of the display case, and were not disappointed. The Chocolate Success has a creamy ganache interior and crisp chocolate shell exterior. It is a full octane indulgence and easily splittable. The prices are very reasonable in the Vancouver context--$5 for the cake, $2 for sizeable brownies, etc.
The space itself is somewhat small and narrow, so maybe not the best study locale during the busy weekend times. The floor was also a bit a grubby with crumbs, and when a staff member cleaned off our table, she literally wiped all of a previous customer's pastry dregs on to the floor (which we then had to trample through). A bit clumsy, but their food wares are worth another try. -

This was recommended to us by one of our friends. The place is cozy and has a very traditional feel to it. The food is amazing. The pastries are delicious, but not overpoweringly sweet. Their coffee has the right kick of bitter to it, just perfectly delicious. I love the flan, it's surprisingly not very sweet. My partner agrees with me. The prices are also great. You can get delicious pastries, bread, and coffee and enjoy chit-chat in a cozy space. The service is exquisite and very friendlyWe will definitely return!

OMG
High School French does me no service to this review.
There's no gagging me with a spoon here.
Tout est délicieux
Excuse my French.
Oui.
I know I know.
Pardonez mon français. C'est terrible
but 5 stars for perfection. -

This is a small French-style bakery/cafe located on Davie (they have another store on Broadway, in Kits), serving up a variety of pastries, cakes, and sandwiches. I've previously visited the Broadway location of Baguette & Co last year, where I've tried their Chocolate Success and Lemon Tart, both of which were quite good. During my visit to their Davie location, I got their Quiche Lorraine and Apricot Almond Pie. I also asked for their Royal Chocolate Cake, but unfortunately the staff made a mistake (and I wasn't paying attention) for when I got home, I found that I got the Chocolate Success again (oh well). Mistake aside, I did enjoy the food, and the prices are quite reasonable. This is definitely worth a visit.
Quiche Lorraine ($5.95):
3/5
This contained ham and eggs, and was topped with some herbs (I think it was rosemary/thyme). The filling itself was delicious, and was creamy with plenty of ham (and would have been 4/5 on its own). I really didn't like the herbs however: they were dry and the flavour was very strong and really did not go well with the rest of the dish.
Apricot Almond Pie ($4.75):
3.5/5
This consisted of a crust that's filled with almond paste, apricot, and almonds. The filling was very flavourful: they have a generous amount of almond paste and apricrots, and lightly sweet. The bottom crust was a bit tough and gummy, but the edges were flaky.
Chocolate Success ($5):
4/5
I had actually asked for the Royal Chocolate cake, since I've already had this one before at the Broadway location, but unfortunately the staff made a mistake and gave me this cake instead (oh well). This consisted of two thin layers of cake sandwiching chocolate mousse, and is coated in another shell of chocolate. The cake was moist and tender, while the mousse as luscious and rich. I do find the outer chocolate to be a tad waxy.
Summary:
Food: 3.5/5
Price: 4/5
Service: N/A
Overall: 3.5/5
Recommendations: Chocolate Success -

The desserts are good. Price point is a bit debatable. The part I don't like is their lighting. A bit too dark. Friendliness is spotty depending on which person is working.
